A LORRY jack knifed on St Helens Linkway this morning (Monday, June 20) and around 50 litres of diesel spilled on to the road.
Firefighters were called to the incident, which happened near the McDonalds restaurant, at around 11am.
Fire crew closed a section of road and swilled away the diesel.
A spokesperson for Merseyside Fire & Rescue Service said: "One fire engine attended the incident and crews were on scene at 11.11am.
"A ruptured tank in the articulated lorry caused around 40 to 50 litres of diesel to spill on to the road."
Firefighters remained at the scene for around an hour and 45 minutes.
Merseyside Police also attended the incident and St Helens Council gritted the road for safety.
