Saints showed plenty of effort at Hull FC but were still downed 32-24 by the league leaders, ensuring the Steve Prescott Cup stays in east Yorkshire.
They fought back from 12-0 down to lead at the break, but a couple of missed tackles proved very costly.
Saints scored tries through Jonny Lomax, Atelea Vea, Adam Swift and Jack Ashworth.
And although they were small in number - the Saints travelling support made a bit of a din in backing the team for the full 80.
Bernard Platt captured the action from the KC Stadium.
