MARTIN Murray will provide extra punch to this year's Westfield Street Music Festival with an open air training session as the clock ticks down to his fight with George Groves.

Martin, who will be taking on Groves at London's O2 for the Super Middleweight WBA crown said: "I was honoured to be asked to be a part of this year's festival. Last year I thoroughly enjoyed collecting money for the Steve Prescott Foundation. It was a great atmosphere and it sounds like this year it will be bigger and better. I am currently in intensive training for the fight with George Groves on June 25. This will give my fans an opportunity to come and watch me train as well as a few pics with donations to the SPF."

Martin will be supported by local amateur club Wildcard Boxing who will be testing their youngsters with sparring sessions with boxers from all over the north west.

Dominic Hodnett from Wildcard said: "Our young boxers look up to Martin. He is an inspiration and is always available for advice and support. It is fantastic that we are given this opportunity to showcase our talents to a larger audience and hopefully encourage more from St Helens to come and join our club."

Paul Griffiths from the Zoo bar and a member of the organising committee of the festival added: "It was our intentions to broaden the festival to incorporate the pubs in Bridge Street and to also provide entertainment for all the family.

"To have Martin and Wildcard Boxing joining in the festivities along with the kiddies rides and Jamm Studios acoustic stage. The area around the college is going to be fantastic. We would like to thank our charity partners Steve Prescott Foundation for making this happen."

The entertainment will get underway at the college at 1pm with the sparring sessions. Martin's training session will start around 2pm.
