A FORMER Young Community Star winner at the Pride of St Helens is celebrating bagging an impressive haul of medals in recognition of his sporting skills.
Mark Worthington, 12, a pupil at Haydock High was taking part in the three-day National Dwarf Games in Birmingham at the end of April.
The Year 7 student competed in several events and met British Paralympian swimmer Ellie Simmonds as well as actor Warwick Davies. Mark, was the proud winner of six gold medals in shot putt, discuss, javelin, football, swimming and running and a bronze medal in basket ball.
He is hoping to step up and take on international opponents at the World Dwarf Games which will take place in the United States of America next year.
Mark, who was named Young Community Star in 2013, was described as an “all rounder” who played an active role in the community. Active in a number of sports Mark also enjoys Karate, BMX biking and canoeing.
