AN 18-month old baby had to be checked by paramedics after a fire broke out in a kitchen on Monday (May 2).
Two fire engines were called to an address on Main Avenue in Portico just before 5.45pm after a grill pan burst into flames.
Crews wearing breathing equipment put out the fire before ventilating the property.
The baby did not suffer smoke inhalation but was taken to Whiston Hospital for precautionary checks.
There was severe smoke damage to the kitchen and rest of the ground floor.
Firefighters remained at the scene for around 45 minutes.
