A MAN was airlifted to hospital with serious injuries after an accident on the Rainford Bypass involving a motorcyclist and Peugeot.

Police said tonight that the 39-year-old male rider from Liverpool is in a serious but stable condition at Aintree University Hospital in Fazakerley having been taken there by air ambulance.

He is suffering from two suspected broken arms and a suspected broken leg.

A 23-year-old female driver was treated for shock at the scene and a cut to her head.

She was cut from her car by Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service.

The Rainford bypass remains closed at this time.
 

At around 4.15pm, a report was received of the collision between the car and motorbike on the Rainford Bypass, at the junction of Ormskirk Road.

Police, ambulance and the Merseyside Fire & Rescue Service attended the scene.

The male motorcycle rider was taken to hospital by air ambulance where his condition is described as serious.

She was cut from her car by Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service.

This comes after a woman was killed in a crash in Moss Bank earlier this afternoon.

The Rainford Bypass is currently closed in both directions.
