A MOTHER was moved to launch a support group for families affected by attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) in a bid to offer more help for parents.
Clair Hodgson, whose son has the condition, will be holding a presentation this Friday at the town hall to present specialised equipment to a number of children.
The 43-year-old explained: "There weren't a lot of support groups out there for parents to have a place to go and have a cup of tea and a chat. There are for autism and Aspergers but not ADHD. The aim of the group is for parents to meet other parents whose children have the condition or who are on the path to being diagnosed.
"We have been running the group for around a year and normally meet once a month at the Millennium Centre. There are around 11 people who come along. We do fundraising by having bingo nights. On the 15th we will be presenting a piece of sensory equipment to families who have been part of the group for at least six months.
"Not a lot of people know about the condition so I want to support more families."
The group meets once a month from 12.30pm to 2.30pm. For further information email parentsmeetingparentsashd41@gmail.com or telephone 07840147260.
