A MAN who made off without paying a £60 taxi fare must pay £245 following an appearance at St Helens Magistrates’ Court.
Daniel Mitchell, 21, from McCormack Avenue in Parr, admitted the charge, under the theft act, at Billinge Crescent last November. He also admitted a charge of failing to surrender at the court having been released on bail in connection with criminal proceedings on March 24.
He was given a conditional discharge for a year and fined £100. He must pay £60 compensation and £85 costs.
Mitchell was also ordered to pay compensation of £60 and costs of £85 to the Crown Prosecution Service.
