AN application has been submitted to turn the former Little Chef on the East Lancashire Road into a sex shop.
Adult firm Cocktails Ltd has made a bid to St Helens Council for the grant of a licence for the premises in Windle.
The application was received by the council on Monday last week (March 21) and a notice featured in last week's Star.
People have reacted on social media expressing surprise at the location.
The St Helens Council website states that in 1999 the authority adopted the provisions of the Local Government (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1982 to regulate 'Sex Establishments'.
The application and will be determined by the Licensing and Environmental Protection Committee.
If granted, a licence is normally valid for 12 months.
Anyone who wishes to object to the plans must do so in writing to the Licensing and Land Charges Manager, Wesley House, Corporation Street, St Helens, WA10 1HF within 28 days of the application having been received.
