A GRIEVING son was left heartbroken after a "vile dog owner" allowed their pet to foul on his mother's grave before using petals to cover it up.

Philip Scott from Clock Face contacted the Star to say: "While going to put flowers on my mother's burial place in St Helens Cemetery Garden of Remembrance it was noticeable that on the newly covered grave there was dog mess.

"But the heartbreaking thing was that this vile dog owner not only did not pick up the dog mess, they took petals out of the floral tribute to cover it up.

"I know not all dog walkers are as vile as this particular person but it begs the question should all dog walking be stopped in the cemetery."

This follows an outcry from many Star readers who claim that beauty spots are being ruined by the amount of dog mess.

The council say they will carry out patrols in places such as the cemetery and Victoria Park in a bid to catch the culprits.

Do you think that dogs should be banned from cemeteries or more should be done to catch the culprits?
