AN exhibition will be held at The World of Glass showcasing the work of David Storey who died in April 2014.

David, who was from Clinkham Wood, was a semi-professional landscape artist and a former pupil at St Alban's High School on Washway Lane.

He graduated from Coventry University with a first class honours degree in 1989 before studying for a Master of Arts at the Royal College of Art in London.

In 1992 David won the John Minton Painting Scholarship to Barcelona.

He exhibited around the UK and abroad. David moved to the Lake District where he lived for the best part of a decade and it was during this period that he turned his attention to landscape paintings.

He eventually moved back home where he spent the last two years of his life. Much of his work was said to be a social commentary and a number of his large canvas paintings make reference to St Helens.

David, who died aged 48, had also worked as a visiting tutor at various schools including Sutton High, Carmel College and De La Salle.

Fred Leather who was David's Art teacher at Secondary School is in the process of setting up the exhibition with Hannah Longworth from The World of Glass. He said: "He was incredibly talented and had been blessed with a rare gift. He was the finest artist I have ever known. His name and work remains largely unknown in his home town of St Helens."

The exhibition is due to be staged at The World of Glass from March 26 to April 22.
