A 67-YEAR-old man and 40-Year-old woman had to be cut out of a car following a two vehicle collision at around 1pm this afternoon.

Fire engines from Eccleston and Huyton Community Fire Stations were called to a dual carriageway leading towards the Brookbridge roundabout in Prescot.

Paramedics and firefighters lifted the man and woman to safety on longboards.

Both were assessed at the scene and taken to Whiston Hospital.

Two men in the other vehicle, aged 19 and 21, were unharmed and declined medical treatment.

Firefighters remained at the scene for around an hour before handing over to the police.
