A MAN from Whiston has been arrested in connection with a shooting which took place last month.

The 25-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm, wounding and possession of Class A and B drugs.

He will be questioned today by detectives from the Matrix Serious Organised Crime unit.

The arrest took place at the man's Whiston home address at around 9pm last night.

The shooting happened at a house in Steerscroft in Stockbridge Village on the afternoon of January 14 when a 25-year-old man was shot in the leg.

Three gunmen had forced their way into the house looking to steal a bike and when confronted by the victim, who was himself a visitor at the property, shot him in the leg.

Children as young as 12 were believed to have been in the house at the time of the attack.

Two men aged 17 and 18 from Walton and Kirkby respectively were arrested a few days later in connection with the incident and remain on conditional police bail pending further enquiries.
