A MAN has been given a suspended prison sentence after he was found guilty of breaking into a property in the town centre.
Lee Kenyon, 37, from, Whalley Avenue on the Hard Lane estate had denied entering the building on Duke Street with intent to steal on January 12.
He was also found guilty of failing to surrender to custody at St Helens Magistrates' Court on February 1 having been released on bail following an earlier hearing last July.
Kenyon was sentenced to four weeks but this was suspended for 12 months. Magistrates ordered him to pay £250 in compensation, a victim surcharge of £80 and costs of £500 to the Crown Prosecution Service.
A collection order was made which will see £5 deducted from his benefits each week.
