A PHOTOGRAPHIY exhibition Light and Mood opens this week at The World of Glass.

The work, by St Helens-based photographer Peter Drought, looks at landscapes across the UK and features portraits of the areas under different light conditions and at different times of year.

In 2012, Peter's piece entitled Langdale Pikes, which features Side House Farm with Dungeon Ghyll in the background, won second prize in the St Helens Open Art competition.

This was the first time that a photograph had featured in the top three in an exhibition, which normally concentrates on painting and sculpture.

The current exhibition is a continuation from that event, expanding with images of the same theme.

Peter said: "A theme within the exhibition is how mood changes depending on the environmental conditions, varying from calming tranquility through to drama, energy and even foreboding.

"The exhibition also explores the long-term relationship between the landscape and its inhabitants, seeking to emphasize the enduring size and power of nature in comparison to people and animals."

Since 2008, Peter has run his own photography business, specialising in architecture, building interiors and weddings.

The exhibition is situated in gallery one of The World of Glass, in Chalon Way East, and runs until January 8, 2016.

It is open Monday to Saturday, from 10am to 4pm, and features a mixture of framed and unframed limited edition prints.
