A BOOK of condolence will be opened at St Helens Town Hall for murdered police officer David Phillips who was killed in a hit and run earlier this week.

The Mayor of St Helens Councillor Stephen Glover will be among the first to sign the book.

St Helens Councillor and Deputy Police and Crime Commissioner for Merseyside Sue Murphy said: “Many people would like to express their sympathy and show solidarity with PC Phillips’s family, friends and colleagues at this very difficult time.

“This officer died protecting the public, and in doing so reminded everyone that the police put their lives at risk every time they go on duty.

“We all send our deepest sympathies to PC Phillips’s family, friends and colleagues.”

The book of condolence will be open for signing at the main reception in St Helens Town Hall between 9am and 5pm Monday to Friday.
