A JUNIOR football club will host an event to see children's kits donated to Africa.

Rainhill Rockets JFC is holding its third annual friendly tournament which sees unwanted football kits donated.

Through the Kits4Causes charity, the donated items are distributed in Africa and the kits are used as an incentive to gather people to educate them on HIV and other health issues.

Items of winter clothing are also taken to the Whitechapel homeless project in Liverpool.

Last year's event saw more than 100 children take part with this year's event to be attended by mayor Cllr Steve Glover and mayoress Lynne Glover with funds also to be raised on the day for the Steve Prescott Foundation.

This year more than 120 children from age five to 14 will play in mixed-up even teams purely for fun and everyone gets an ice cream.

This year's event is on Saturday, August 29 from 10am until 12pm at the club on Holt Playing Fields, Rainhill.
