PEOPLE suffering from stress, anxiety or depression can take part in a series of creative workshops to improve their wellbeing.
The sessions, which will be led by trained artists, will allow people who are referred to try out activities such as drawing, painting, crafts and creative writing.
The workshops are part of an 'Arts on Prescription' scheme, which can be offered as an alternative or as an additional treatment for people who experience mild to moderate depression, anxiety or stress.
Councillor Jeanie Bell, cabinet member for public health and wellbeing in St Helens, said: "Creativity can give a person something meaningful to do with their time, as well as allowing them to socialise, explore their feelings and take time out to relax and unwind."
A participant said: "The environment places me with caring and dedicated staff - and puts me alongside folk who, like me, have troubles to overcome. There is a common bond here that, though unspoken, gives comfort - we're all in it together."
People can self refer on to the programme, or be referred by a medical professional.
