POLICE were called to a mass brawl involving a number of men in the town centre last Friday night (July 31).
A spokesman from Merseyside Police say officers responded to reports of a "large scale disturbance" outside Rubino's restaurant on Rigby Street just after 11.35pm.
They found a man in his 30s with injuries to his face.
A 24-year-old man, Richard O'Donnell from Stable Way in London has been charged on suspicion of theft, possession of a knife and using threatening behaviour with intent to cause fear. He has been bailed to appear at St Helens Magistrates' Court on October 27.
Enquiries are ongoing in to the incident.
