MORE than 150 riders took to the saddle at Willowbrok Hospice's second Bike 45 challenge.

Held on Sunday, July 19 the event started and finished at Sutton Leisure Centre, taking in the scenic St Helens and West Lancashire countryside,

Participant James Naylor, from St Helens, said: “I decided to take up the Ride 45 challenge back in March. I completed the route in just under four hours, with a much needed rest stop for a cup of tea and sandwich. I might be a bit saddle sore but it was well worth it.”

Mark Pilkington, challenges fundraiser at Willowbrook said: “We are delighted that so many riders turned out – particularly given the initial downpour on the day.

"The event was a huge success and we would like to offer our congratulations and thanks to everyone who took part and made the day possible.

"All the money raised will allow the hospice to keep providing specialist care to people with life shortening illnesses who live in the St Helens and Knowsley area.”
