THERE are some excursions coming up shortly to stimulate the senses with the distinctive noises and smells of steam trains.
Saturday, July 18 sees the Cumbrian Mountain Express travel from Liverpool to Carlisle via St Helens Central, leaving at 7.40am and returning at 7.55pm.
The following day, Sunday, July 19, the North Wales Coast Express will be travelling from Liverpool to Holyhead via Rainhill leaving at 10.25am and coming back around 8.40pm.
A Prescotian posted a message on Facebook which read: “As a model railway nerd I was so delighted to see that Hornby have just issued a BICC coking coal wagon in their catalogue.
“It has inspired The Prescotian to start an article thread about the relationship between PGS, PGGS, PS and the BICC works in Prescot.”
