HAYDOCK footballer Conor Coady has penned a three-year deal with Championship side Wolverhampton Wanderers, the club's website has reported.

Midfielder Coady, 22, moves to Molineux from Huddersfield Town, where he has spent the past season, for a fee believed to be around £2million.

Coady has enjoyed an impressive campaign at the John Smiths Stadium, in which he made making 48 appearances for the Terriers who he joined from Liverpool.

The former Rainford Rangers junior enjoyed a dream FA Cup run to the semi-finals in 2014 during a loan spell with League One side Sheffield United which was covered heavily by the Star.

He made his senior Liverpool debut in November 2012 and has been an England international up to under-20s level, captaining the under 17s in the 2010 European Championships.

He will join Kenny Jackett's side, who finished seventh in English football's second tier last season.

Of his move, Coady told the Wolves website: “It’s massive for me. I’m really thrilled to be here and I cannot wait to get going. I’m made up.

“It’s a huge, huge club and one that I really couldn’t turn down.

“Last year was huge for me. Huddersfield was a fantastic club for me to be at and I’m really grateful for what they gave me.

“It’s a new chapter now and I really can’t wait to get going."
