HUNDREDS turned out to an annual dog show at Haresfinch Park.

The seventh Canine Capers roadshow was held with around 800 enjoying the entertainment.

A daring dog display team performed with free dog nail-clipping, face painting and free competitions all taking place.

Free pet health checks took place on more than 70 dogs throughout the day, offering canine care tips to owners.

And, as the Star previously reported, changes in legislation meaning pet dogs are to be required to be microchipped from next year, 131 dog owners took advantage to have their dogs done on the day.

The roadshow continues with three more events with microchipping to be available.

The events will be at Rainford Parish Council, Church Road, on Thursday, July 16 from 11am to 3.30pm, at Walmsley Road car park, at the back of Eccleston Library on Wednesday, August 19 from 11pm to 3.30pm and at The Junction Inn car park, Sutton on Thursday, September 3 from 11am to 3.30pm.

Some prize winners didn't pick up their prizes, and should contact The Dog Welfare and Enforcement team on 01744 676338 or via environmentalhealth@sthelens.gov.uk.
