HAYDOCK Park bosses have admitted they will consider positioning the music stage in the centre of the racecourse if they secure another act that will draw similar crowds to the Kylie Minogue concert.

The position of the stage, to the left of the Newton Stand as you look at the course, meant some in the audience were stood up to 200 metres back and struggled to get a good view.

Jason Fildes, Haydock's general manager, said: "It is the biggest crowd I have seen at Haydock. I think we would consider relocating the stage in the future (to the centre of the racecourse).

"The space after the stage is long and thin and while for other music nights we've had 10,000, having 20,000 is different. It would allow us to use the main stands better too.

"It was a brilliant night though – the positives do outweigh the negatives for sure and there has been a great reaction on social media."

Course bosses, meanwhile, plan to contact the Highways Agency to discuss traffic problems at Haydock Island that led to gridlock at the junction and surrounding roads prior to the race meeting and concert.

Mr Fildes said: "I don't think the new smart system worked particularity well. If you were coming in from the north it was pretty accessible but from the south people struggled."
