MORE than 40 secondary school pupils got a taste of college life after paying a visit to Carmel.
Children from St Augustine's, St Cuthbert's, Haydock and De La Salle engaged in challenging work on advanced maths and creative writing and learned about Carmel’s ‘Raising Aspirations’ programme, which prepares students for applying to attend the college.
They were also given a short tour of the college’s excellent facilities, and had the opportunity to question current Carmel students.
Cllr Jeanette Banks, St Helens Council’s cabinet member for education and lifelong learning said: “I am delighted to see Carmel College and our secondary schools working together again to help improve our students’
outcomes and to broaden their horizons.
"This project is one of our joint ventures in St Helens involving our schools and Carmel College. I hope our students found the day informative and inspiring, and that it has provided them with food for thought in terms of their next steps after GCSE.”
