BRASS musicians can win the chance to record a new CD in a concert raffle with an ex-member from one of the country's most renowned bands.

The prize worth more than £2,000 will be on offer at the Pride of St Helens concert at the town hall on Saturday, June 13.

Local solo artist and former Black Dyke Band member Paul Duffy is offering the chance for one lucky musician or group.

The winning ticket holder will have the chance to undertake a recording session that can be used by any soloist, small ensemble or brass band to make a brand new CD and which will be produced by Paul.

Paul, 26, joined the famous Black Dyke Band in 2006, where he played for seven years with the soprano cornet.

Every person who purchases a ticket for the concert will be eligible for the raffle.

"I hope this can be a kick starter for local musicians or a crucial break for a local brass band where finances are increasingly stretched," said Paul.

The concert is being presented in conjunction with the ambitious St Helens Youth Brass Band.

Paul will take part in the concert, alongside Spring Festival Senior Trophy champions Rainford Brass Band.
