A MOTHER-OF-TWO is living the dream as she releases her first music single – which she wrote as a schoolgirl almost 15 years ago.

Sonya Hurst, who lives in Sutton, has been singing and composing music since she was a little girl, performing in pubs, clubs and holiday camps through her younger years.

So, after taking a break from music to have a family, it is a dream come true for Sonya to have her first song, ‘Emily’ was released to all major digital distributors this month

And Sonya has already enjoyed being played on several radio stations across the globe with some of her recent tracks.

She has been involved with various types of music, including pop, jazz, rock and gospel – but she has made a return to her original love of country music for the release.

“A lot of people seemed to like it so I thought I may as well have a go at this,” said Sonya, 29.

“A lot older people seem to like it and it’s not a new style of country. I’m made up by it and I’m not motivated by money, I just enjoy doing it.

“A promoter in America has helped me and it’s a dream come true to have something out there. It’s really pleasing to see songs I’ve written played in Australia and America and when people comment on them I’m really chuffed.

“I’m now working on my own album and I was going to do an EP at first but I thought I’d do Emily as it seemed so popular.”
