THEY came in their hundreds, many dressed in Saints colours, to pay their respects to Harrison Ledsham.

St Mark’s Church in Haydock was packed with mourners as friends and family gave their own tribute to the 12-year-old who died from bone cancer last week.

Draped in a flag in the colours of his beloved Saints his coffin was carried into the church past a guard of honour from his local Scouts troupe.

Several members of the Saints squad mingled with mourners, many who spilled out onto the street as the church quickly filled.

Harrison’s teachers paid tribute to a “courageous” little boy and a “great giggler” who had touched not only the people near his home in Haydock, but across the world.

Throughout the tributes a montage of photos was shown in church ending with a video of him playing Coldplay’s ‘Paradise’ on the piano.

The service paid tribute to a “brave” little boy who fought his illness with huge courage and met it with his characteristic smile.

Special mention was also made to Harrison’s parents Karen and Paul, who lost their daughter Abigail in 2008 shortly before her second birthday from Sandhoffs Disease.

Harrison’s coffin was carried out to another guard of honour from his Saints heroes who stood side by side to bid farewell to their “little mate.”
