X FACTOR contestant Danny Dearden was at Rainford High to give pupils a musical treat as well as deliver an important message on cyber bullying.

The Rochdale singer, who reached the judges' house stage of last year's X Factor with mentor Mel B, sang for pupils in years seven, eight and nine on Tuesday morning.

As well as delivering a 50-minute performance for each year group, Danny gave an important message about online safety and internet bullying, supporting schemes developed by Life Skills Education CIC.

Bev Wood, the school's KS4 pastoral manager organised the event said: "The main message of the presentation is to empower and inform students to make the right choices in regards to online safety and cyber bullying."

Rainford High principal Ian Young added: “Our school ethos of everyone matters, everyone helps and everyone succeeds ensures that the welfare of our students is central to them being able to achieve their full potential.

"It is vital that we educate them about the importance of staying safe online and the dangers of cyber bullying.

"The performance today is one way that we can engage our young people with these challenging issues and topics.”
