POLICE are still searching for information about an assault which left a taxi driver unconscious.

The Star featured a CCTV appeal last month after officers were called to Millfields in Eccleston by paramedics after a 25-year-old taxi driver had been punched.

It is believed that he picked up his attacker in Queens Square in Liverpool at around 10.15pm who asked to be taken to St Helens. He then asked to go to a cash machine on Millfields.

When the car pulled up at the cash point both men got out of the taxi. The attacker argued about the fare and punched the driver knocking him to the ground and leaving him unconscious before running off.

A bystander came over to help the driver and called the emergency services. The victim was taken to hospital where he was treated for a cut to his forehead and a small puncture wound to his lip. No weapons were used in the attack.

The attack happened just before 11pm on Friday, March 13
