STAFF and students were evacuated from St Helens College this morning following a phone call claiming an "explosive device" was at the Technology Centre Campus in Pocket Nook.

The college evacuated all students, staff and visitors from both its town centre campus on Water Street and the Technology Campus as a precautionary measure following a call at 10.15am.

A college spokeswoman said they take all threats of "this nature" very seriously and they are co-operating with police.

Anyone with any information about the incident is asked to call police on the 101 number or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

People were evacuated from the sites on Water Street and Pocket Nook Street while poilce carried out their investigations.
