THE current Stirling Albion manager enjoyed a good playing career with Dumbarton, Hearts, Airdrie, Partick and Morton, but it was at St Johnstone and Dunfermline where he enjoyed some of his best spells. Today he shares memories of his playing days.

What's your best moment with the clubs?

I won promotion with both St Johnstone and Dunfermline, but it was sweeter with Saints because I'd just been let go by Hearts and we went up into the Premier League where we'd be able to play against them.

And your worst?

When I was at Dunfermline and Norrie McCathie died (in January, 1996). We shared a room in Tenerife and I got changed next to him in the dressing room, so it was a big loss.

Which is your favourite away ground?

As a player it would be Parkhead, especially when Dunfermline beat them 2-1 there the season they were trying to stop Rangers' 10-in-a-row. The atmosphere there is incredible.

Who has been the best player at your club over the years?

At St Johnstone it was between Sergei Baltacha, the Russian player, and Paul Wright, who was an exceptional striker.

Your favourite goal of all time?

Against Rangers when we were 4-0 down and I was getting stick off the crowd because I was a Celtic fan. It may only have made it 4-1, but it still felt great to score against Andy Goram.

Your most influential manager?

A combination of Alex MacDonald, Bert Paton, Dick Campbell and Alex Totten. I learned the right mentality from Alex at Hearts, then man-management and discipline from Bert and Dick at Dunfermline and Alex at Saints.

What is your favourite piece of club memorabilia?

I've four championship medals from different clubs, but my favourite item is a crystal decanter for Man of the Match in my one European game for Hearts against Austria Vienna.

Which is your club's favourite kit?

As long as it has No.7 on the back I don't mind what strip I wear!

Who is the greatest Scottish player of all time?

As a Celtic fan I would say Jinky, Jimmy Johnstone, but in my time Kenny Dalglish was the best.

What one thing would you change about Scottish football?

I would change the fact that only one team goes down from the Premier League when two go down from the other leagues.
