SCHOOLCHILDREN can make some new furry friends during the Easter holidays thanks to Pets At Home.

The stores in St Helens and Prescot will host a series of free workshops offering fun, interactive activities that will educate the next generation of pet owners on how to care for small furry animals responsibly.

The store team will be on hand to share their knowledge, quizzing the children on pet care in a ‘furry friends trail’.

They will also help children get crafty and create their own pet straw buddies to become their own furry character.

The ‘stars’ of the workshops will include hamsters, gerbils and guinea pigs and assist the store team when they provide them with a nutritious afternoon snack.

After completing the workshops, each child will receive a certificate and sticker, and a pet promise card where they make a pledge to look after any pet they have.

To find out when the sessions are on and to book a place visit www.petsathome.com/shop/en/pets/store-locations, search for an individual store and click on the ‘workshops’ tab. Alternatively contact the local store team for more information.
