A CHARITY which offers vital care to vulnerable children enjoyed its official opening with some notable guests in attendance.

Tunza’s Pride was founded last year with the aim of improving the lives of children by offering a safe environment in which they can fulfil their potential.

The work of the charity, based on Boundary Road, has attracted some high-profile admirers with Saints veteran Paul Wellens and actress Carly Stenson among its supporters.

And the Tunza Centre’s official opening took place last Friday with Paul Wellens joined by mayor and mayoress Cllr Geoff and Carol Pearl and special guest Lewis the Dulux dog.

“There is lots that we have developed in the past year and we intend to build on that,” said Ian Smith, the founder of Tunza’s Pride.

“I thought there was a gap in the market for a charity focused on developing confidence and self-esteem in young people and use fun activities and education to enhance their well-being.

“We have children of a variety of abilities and the youngsters get something out of it. It’s all about raising confidence and self-esteem in young people.”

“We now want to promote our second room which is a great benefit. Now we can operate two functions at once. I’m very pleased with how things have gone!”
