THE search is on for a committee member who can represent the interest of younger people.

Helena Housing association is looking for people aged between 18-25 who live in a Helena home of their own or household to join their Tenants and Communities Committee (TCC).

Meetings are held four times a year and usually last between two and three hours. The young person selected for the committee will get £1,000 in this period.

The committee is made up of six tenants, one leaseholder and one younger person. Together they work alongside three councillors and two members from Helena Partnerships board to make sure people’s views about the organisation are taken into account.

Tanya McGibbon, neighbourhood initiatives officer for young people at Helena said: “It will give a young person a say in how Helena operates, give them a valuable insight into how the business works and help them to gain a wide range of skills and experiences. This is a fantastic opportunity to learn in a nurturing and supportive environment.”

Once selected the person will represent all young customers of Helena and their input will help shape the company’s decisions on policies, services and how budgets are developed.

Helena will cover all reasonable travel expenses.

Anyone interested is invited to a special event on Monday, March 2. Contact Tanya McGibbon by Wednesday, February 25 or email tanya.mcgibbon@helena partnerships.co.uk.

Alternatively, phone 01744 637383 or 07766 791893.
