HARRISON Ledsham is beaming with pride after decorating his newly-fitted prosthetic leg in Saints colours ahead of this Sunday’s World Club Challenge.

Courageous Harrison, 12, was diagnosed with bone cancer in the spring of last year, and the Blackbrook Royals junior rugby player was devastated when he had to have a leg amputated to help tackle the disease.

After being told he could have the new leg customised, it was an easy decision for the massive Saints fan.

“He is made up and you can see a big difference in him straight away,” said dad Paul, 46.

“When he had it done at Preston they said he could have what you want on it so we went to Langtree Park and got some wrapping paper. They cut each individual badge out, laminated them and put them on to the leg.

“With this he can put the leg on himself and he can do a lot more things himself whereas we were helping him 24/7 before.

“He has even started going back to some of the things he used to do such as music. He’s learning the French horn and piano.”

Meanwhile, a fundraising campaign is ongoing to secure an higher-quality leg to allow Harrison to regain his mobility .

A sportsmen’s dinner, organised by Haydock High, takes place at Blackbrook rugby club on Boardmans Lane on Friday, February 20, including Olympic medallist Iwan Thomas and ex-rugby league international Adrian Morley.

“He’s going into school now and he’s really enjoying it and we have to travel to Newcastle every fortnight for his treatment. Everybody just loves him and he’s such a likeable lad,” added Paul.
