MORE than 1,000 people from across the country have already signed up to take part in this year’s GPW Recruitment St Helens 10k. And with a 2,000 capacity in place, more runners are urged to put their names down for the Sunday, March 8, or risk missing out.

The run, which starts and ends at Saints’ Langtree Park, will feature the beautifully-restored Victoria Park as part of its route once again after a two-year absence.

An added incentive is being offered by The Spirit Health Club, in Haydock, who are offering a five-day pass for use of its facilities to everyone who takes part.

“We’re really pleased with sponsors like Spirit Health Club who have come on board and will give everyone a five-day pass to use their excellent facilities,” said Martin Blondel, general manager of the St Helens 10k and organiser of the 10k.

“They have been running fitness classes for the members to get them fit and they have been promoting the event.”

“We’re being inundated with entries so I would suggest that people enter as soon as possible.

“We’ve had entries from all over the country, from Inverness to Penrith, so it’s the length and breadth of the country and I think that’s been more the case this year than normal.

“Off the back of Steve Prescott’s book people are aware of his incredible story and that has encouraged people from out of the district to come and join in.” To book your place and for more information Visit www.sthelens10k.co.uk.
