A PUB is staging a series of ‘bush tucker trials’ to raise money for the Steve Prescott Foundation on Saturday.

With Australia Day being celebrated next week, The Glass Horse is hosting its own Down Under-themed event, titled ‘I’m A Guest Get Me Into Here’ as it offers a quirky evening of fun based on the popular reality TV programme I’m A Celebrity Get me Out of Here.

The Sherdley Road pub will have a range of activities on offer to give people in the town a flavour of Down Under ahead of Saints’ World Club challenge tussle with South Sydney Rabbitohs next month.

The day will feature bush trucker trials, barbecued food such as crocodile and kangaroo and the chance to meet a snake and spider from ‘The Creepy Crawley Roadshow’.

Proceeds will go to the Steve Prescott Foundation to help continue its work supporting hospitals in the fight against cancer and helping seriously injured rugby league players.

Richard Johnson, manager of the Glass Horse, said: “We are creating a bush tucker clearing in the bar and have many events planned to entertain the whole family.

“We’re confident that our customers will love the event and will help us raise lots of money for the foundation, which is such a fantastic cause.

“It is set to be a really enjoyable day and anyone wishing to support it is welcome to come along and join in the fun.”

The Australian Day begins at The Glass Horse at 6pm on Saturday, January 24. For more information call 01744 29991.
