FATHER Christmas is taking a break from his official duties in the North Pole to enjoy a wild adventure at Knowsley Safari Park.

Families can meet the man himself at a festive breakfast this Saturday and Sunday.

Children at the event will also be given a personalised letter directly from Santa, as well as seeing him in action as he delivers fishy gifts to Biffo, Arthur, Reggie and baby Roger - Knowsley Safari's sea lions.

Father Christmas will join the sea lions in a one-off Christmas themed display, where the creatures will show off their natural abilities.

Eveline De Wolf, head of animal division at Knowsley Safari, said: "The animals and keepers can't wait to meet Santa this December. He'll be arriving extra early to take a tour of the Safari Drive and he'll see some of the additional preparations that the keepers have made to keep the animals comfortable during the cold British winter, from creating thicker bedding for the antelope and heating up the giraffe house."

The walk-around area at Knowsley Safari will also be decked with a 25ft Christmas tree.
Suitable for three to ten-year-olds, the Breakfast with Santa events take place on December 20 and 21 from 10am, costing £10 per child, £15 for non-members, including a full English breakfast.
