FIREFIGHTERS rescued a horse that had fallen into a canal.
Two fire engines and a search and rescue team were called to Wargrave Road, Newton-le-Willows at about 1.40pm on Sunday.
The horse was stuck in water around 3ft deep and firefighters guided it 30 metres towards the canal bank.
Two firefighters wearing specialist kit entered the while crews used rope access gear to pull it from the canal.
The horse was checked by a vet and was unharmed.
