IT has been a feature of the town’s high street for more than 125 years and Tyrers introduced the next generation last weekend.

The family-owned Bridge Street department store gave visitors a warm welcome on Sunday.

Edward Harrison, son of managing director, Ali Tyrer, looked dapper as he was on hand to greet each and every customer who turned up at the shop on Sunday to help them enjoy their Christmas shopping experience.

“Edward was so proud to be involved and to feel part of the family business,” said Ali.

“He showed off in true Tyrer style how to make our customers feel special and leave them with the memory of a great family welcome typical of Tyrers.

“The event was a great success, the shop was filled with a happy and optimistic atmosphere as we look forward to the run up to Christmas.”

And Tyrers will be getting further into the festive mood as it hosts its Santa’s Grotto this weekend.

Father Christmas will come to the shop on Saturday afternoon from 1pm along with the snow queen and roller-skating elf. And there will be festive music from 11.30am to get shoppers in the mood ahead of the big arrival.
