A MAN has handed himself into police after CCTV images were published by the Star last week.

Detectives had appealed to trace a suspect connection with an incident on Parade Street in the town centre in which a 54-year-old man was punched in the face.

The man has since died but at this stage police are not linking it to the attack.

Just before the assault the victim had been in Seddon News on Vincent Street just after 8pm on Monday, October 27.

He was taken to hospital to be treated for injuries to his face but was later discharged.

The man, whose name has yet to be released, died at his home on Sunday, November 9.

His death has been referred to the coroner but an inquest has yet to be opened.

A post-mortem has been carried out the results of which have been withheld pending further forensic reports.

A police spokesman confirmed a man had attended a police station after the appeal featured on the Star's website and was questioned.

Investigations are continuing.
