POLICE are hunting two muggers who stole cash from a man in broad daylight as he walked along a footpath in the town centre.

The man had been close to Campbell Street and Lewis Street at around 12.45pm last Friday (November 14) when he was approached by two men.

They pushed him to the floor before stealing cash.

The victim suffered only slight injuries.

Both offenders are believed to be white and aged between 15 and 18-years-old. One of them is described as being around 6ft tall and with a skinny build. He is thought to have been wearing a grey hoodie with shiny black Nike tracksuit bottoms and Nike trainers.

The other is also described as skinny and was wearing a light grey coloured tracksuit with a hooded top.

Detective Constable Neil Henry, St Helens CID, said: "This was a frightening incident for the victim who was pushed over from behind in broad daylight as he was walking along a footpath near to Queens Park.

"Thankfully street robberies such as this are rare in St Helens and I can reassure the community that we are determined to keep it that way by bringing those responsible for this offence to justice.

"I would appeal to anyone who recognises the descriptions of the offenders or who saw anything suspicious in the area last Friday lunchtime to get in touch with us."
