LANGTREE Park hosted an event aimed at arming children and young people with the abilities and information to ‘fulfil their potential’.

The St Helens Skills Show Experience attracted youngsters aged between 14 and 25 from St Helens, Knowsley, Wigan and Halton providing them with careers information from a wide range of industry sectors and organisations.

Visitors were also given the opportunity to meet employers, take part in career related activities and learn more about potential jobs in the future.

Organised by St Helens College it was supported locally by the Star, St Helens Council and Saints.

The college structured the event around areas within the Liverpool City region which are predicted to see a future growth in employment.

The intention was to give youngsters the information, skills and knowledge to give them the best possible chance of landing a job.

Among the activities available on the day were getting a taste of life as an air traffic controller, Royal Navy firefighting and being a DJ.

Visitors were also able to get impartial careers advice as well as listening to motivational speakers and industry specialists.
