A CREATIVE schoolgirl will be stepping out in style after her shoe designs were brought to life as the reward for winning a national competition.

The sketches of Liberty Maloney, a 14-year-old De La Salle pupil, were chosen out of thousands of entrants in a contest run by Wynsors World of Shoes to have unique footwear designed by Kickers.

Her pink designs that featured a floral motif won approval after being placed on the national shop's website and going to a public vote. Winners were based on innovation and the appeal of the design.

Her form tutor Andy Fletcher told the Star: “There were more than 3,500 designs in total from some 50 schools.

“Out of these three were chosen and Liberty was one of the winners.

“Kickers then made the shoe, which is a one-off. Liberty also won £50 for herself and £50 for the school.

“Our entries were organised by art teacher Kate Field.”

Andy said that Liberty, from Lea Green, was “delighted” when she was chosen as one of the winners.

“Liberty is a bright girl who I would describe as a bit of all rounder but she is very good at art. Her winning design was simple but very effective."
