POLICE are hunting a man who attempted to run over a car wash worker following a racially aggravated road rage attack.

The man entered the ARC car wash on Park Road, Blackbrook at around 2.30pm on Friday, October 17.

He walked into the office and demanded a free car wash. When he was refused he assaulted a male member of staff and made a racist remark. He then tried to run him over in his silver Vauxhall Corsa.

Detective Constable Stacey Traynor said: "The car wash is on a busy main road with lots of people around at that time of day. We’re appealing to anyone who was in the area who may have seen anything.

"We’re particularly keen to speak to a gentleman who was seen walking a number of dogs at the time of the incident and who may have seen something, to please contact us.

"The staff member sustained minor injuries to his neck and was left very shaken, but didn’t require any medical attention.”

Enquiries into the incident are ongoing.

Anyone with information is asked to call St Helens CID on 0151 777 6811 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
