YOUR St Helens Star is joining forces with Haydock Park to stage a community race day later this month – and readers can be there by taking advantage of an exclusive offer.

The event on Friday, October 17 will offer a fantastic card of racing on the final fixture of the flat season.

The day will also pay tribute to the work of our troops as the racecourse welcomes the LFC Foundation Military Veterans and a military brass band to entertain the crowds.

Haydock chiefs are hoping for a bumper crowd and Star readers can take advantage of a special offer to get into the Tattersalls enclosure for £5, compared to the normal £11.70 if you book online and £13 on the day.

Races will be sponsored by local businesses, with the likes of David Smith Travel already having signed up.

Andrew Kilmurray, Editor of the St Helens Star, said: “Haydock Park remains one of the jewels in St Helens’ crown and regularly ensures the borough is on the national sporting map.

“It attracts some of the country’s top racehorses, owners, jockeys as well as leading music and sporting personalities.

“We are delighted to be working in partnership with Haydock and hope our readers will sign up for this great offer and help make it a packed house.”

Garry Fortune, general manager of Haydock Park Racecourse, said: “The local community is really important to us we are delighted to provide this ticket offer in collaboration with the St Helen’s Star.

“We are also very happy to be supporting our local troops by joining forces with the Liverpool FC Foundation Military Veterans, with this race day being the nearest to Remembrance Day on November 11.

“We hope to see as many racegoers as possible enjoy some top-quality racing and a fantastic day out.”

Gates will open from noon, with races between 2pm and 5.25pm.
