ART lovers will be able to view dozens of works that are due to go on display in a miniature replica of London's Tate Modern.

The temporary gallery, dubbed Tight Modern, measures 9ft by 5ft with a 12ft high chimney. Its exhibitions have attracted thousands of visitors across the UK in recent years.

This year's project was launched at Brighton Fringe Festival in May and is now due to tour libraries across St Helens.

Works on display will include paintings, drawings and photography by people with mental health issues and physical or learning disabilities.

Tight Modern is the brainchild of cartoonist and film-maker Simon Powell, director of Brighton-based arts charity Creative Future. Organisers received hundreds of entries after inviting people to contribute works to Tight Modern earlier this year.

A total of 60 were chosen to go on display. All works are on sale for £50, and cash prizes for the public's three favourite artworks will be awarded in January 2015.

Tight Modern will tour St Helens from October 10 until January 6 2015. For more details, visit tightmodern.wix.com/gallery.
