DETECTIVES have launched a region wide appeal for information into a sexual assault in which a 27-year-old woman was attacked.

They have issued an e-fit of a man they believe was responsible for the attack in the Mill Farm area of Kirkby on Sunday, September 7 at around 7.45am.

The offender is described as white around 5ft 6in tall with a medium build. He is believed to be in his 50s and bald. He was wearing dark clothes and spoke with a local accent.

Detective Constable Tracy O'Hara, from the specialist Unity team in Matrix Serious Organised Crime portfolio, said: "This incident has, understandably, left the victim very upset and shaken.

"It happened in broad daylight in a busy park and we are determined to bring the person responsible to justice.

"The victim has now compiled an e-fit picture of the offender and I would appeal to anyone who recognises him, or thinks they may know who it is, to get in touch with us."

Detectives are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident, or who has information which could help them with their inquiries to contact the Unity Team on 0151 777 3233, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
