A NEW community forum which will allow residents to have their say on waste and recycling issues is to be launched in the town.

Created by Veolia and the Merseyside Recycling and Waste Authority, the forum will look to tackle waste issues and plan for future developments in the town.

As well as informing residents of new improvements to sites and services, it will also allow people a chance to have their say and ask questions on waste and recycling in the borough.

The community forums are being established across Merseyside and Halton by the MRWA to help improve waste and recycling services across the region.

In the past 12 months, St Helens has seen the introduction of a controversial new kerbside recycling system.

Carl Beer, MRWA Chief Executive said: “By listening to our customers and local residents we can understand what they need from our services.”

Alex Paterson, Director of Veolia in Merseyside and Halton, said: “We are urging residents to attend their local Community Forum to find out more about our operations and we invite people to have their say so we can ensure we are providing the best service to residents in Merseyside and Halton.”

The first St Helens community forum takes place on Monday, September 29 at 4pm at the town hall, on Victoria Square.
